ALCOHOL MISUSE
Regardless of your age, gender or nationality, you are not free from alcohol misuse.
According to the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) report states that amongst young people 3/4 of 12th graders, 2/3 of 10th graders and about 2 out of every 5th of 8th graders have consumed alcohol at least once in their lives.
And approximately 5000 young people under the age of 21 die as a result of underage drinking which includes at least 1900 deaths from motor vehicle crashes, 1600 homicides, 300 suicides and 100 other injuries.
Restrictions on driving under the influence of alcohol has existed nearly as long as cars have and when you drink on an empty stomach, the alcohol in your blood reaches its highest level within an hour. Even small amounts of alcohol can impair your driving ability affects your eyesight as road signs appear to be smaller and your ability to judge distances and to focus on distant objects is reduced.
If you have an accident whilst intoxicated with alcohol your injuries are likely to be more serious than if you where sober moreover your chances of surviving any emergency surgery is reduced because of the effect of alcohol on the heart and the circulation system.
