How to motivate and lead your staff / employees?

-

A problem that every superior often faces is how to motivate your staff to keep up the good work. This problem is even more important today when every day life is coming busier and busier. Every industry is dealing with this problem but in Hotel and restaurant business workers don´t always have the chance to have a break. This can be very frustrating if you are working for example a ten hour shift and you have been busy the whole time. Hectic working environment can cause bad mood around employees and in the end customers could suffer from it. Whether it´s bad customer service or failed food plate it´s always bad for the business. Usually more problems can occur if nobody is dealing with these disadvantages (drawbacks). More sick leaves, delays from work, maybe even more use of alcohol, cigarettes and so. All of the above mentioned lead to failed internal marketing. Company´s reputation as an employer goes down fast as person-to-person information spreads among potential employees.

What is the right way for superior to deal with your employees? Should the boss be gentle, strict, pleasant or demanding? Is it better for the superior to be friends with the staff or keep a clear distance as their obvious executive? These questions are very current at the moment. Companies around the world are studying alternative means to lead working communities. Perhaps the right way of leadership is still lost. Good results have been found from managers and bosses that are leading with their own personal style. A boss has to know himself before he can find the right way to communicate with his/her employees. Mental qualities are becoming more and more important. Can you train these sort of attributes at work, university, life in general? Is there any way of finding out which person is suitable as a chief? Or is it true that good leaders are born leaders?
