Democracy Defined !
"Democracy is messy" said president BARACK OBAMA on a white house statement. He was right on his ground but the big question of all time is how can we define democracy in better way since it is vital to our social well being and prosperity of a nation. In this article, I envision of a better democratic world.
Everyone talks about democracy. People are fighting for equal human rights and raising their voice to be heard. The politicians often play political games for short term power while the big question remains unanswered, how much committed will a person be in serving the country if they had to spend lots of money in the election campaign for a four or five year term in leading the country.
Democracy in general is defined as government by by the people for the people and with the people. Although the definition of democracy is complicated because it is almost impossible to create a perfect world order. Some people refers democracy as democrazy. In an election, a party is chosen based on the number of votes they have received or in other words public opinion. The party that gets the majority of the votes goes to power. The dilemma here is that the majority does not mean all the peoples consent. Does it mean that the opinion of the rest of the people is unheard. How fair and democratic is that ?
Political scientists and activists have been working for a long time to solve these problems. Organisations working on establish their rights such as woman's rights and native rights. Despite that fact that this is a very critical issue to solve, I envision of a more fairly defined democratic world where everyone is respected as a human being and everyone's voice is cared and taken into account rather than just the majority.
