recyclable food packages (climate change)
idea is to save nature. this is accomplished by using reusable/ recyclable packaging materials for food. consumers are in key position for this idea to work.
nowadays food sold in stores is often packed in single use packages, those of which are largely made out of different types of plastic. decomposition of plastic in dump sites takes hundreds of years. plastic is polluting the environment and fills out dump sites at alarming fast rates. in modern society stores accept soft drink bottles and pay a pledge to returner. in my opinion this same system could well be used in food packages as well.
this would require designing of thicker packages, which would last longer and they could be reused many times. package itself could remind a modern freezer box. packages would come in different sizes and dissimilarities companies could put their own labels onto packages like they do already in for example soft drink bottles. packages would have a certain pledge, which would encourage consumers in returning packages to specially designed returning devices. collateral could change depending on how big and expensive package is at question.
designing a returning device couldn’t be that hard, they could be based on commonly used bottle returning devices. food packages needed to be washed before returning them; otherwise it would create significant smell problems. returning device would only accept clean packages.
this sort of practice would save huge amount of plastic out of the normal household waste. new packages could contain labels with facts on how much more ecologic it would be to recycle packages and how plastic affects our environment. with fact sheets involved, consumers would be more excited and approve this new policy. collateral itself would allure most of the consumers to return packaging back into store.
Opportunity: save nature
Threat: Global warming
