Hot work card as a standard in EU

Hot work card is part of Scandinavian safety training. Making it EU wide, it would improve safety and decrease fire hazard caused economic loss.

Hot work card is Scandinavian certification from safety course made for people who use tools that produce sparks, like welding or metal grinding, or use flame or heat in away that it might cause fire hazard, like using heat guns or gas burners. It is needed from all workers who are not working in are specially build to be permanent hot working area, and secured against fire hazards. Hot work safety training was designed to decrease amount of big industrial fires and it has succeeded in that surprisingly well. Amount of hot work accident caused fires has dropped dramatically.

Hot work card is accepted in all Scandinavian countries and it lasts 5 years, before it needs to be updated in new course. This need for updates makes sure that workers have latest information of safety regulations and their skills are up-to-date. This safety training system could well be standard also in EU. This would make sure that European safety skills would be at same high level through whole EU. This would decrease amount of fire hazards and so would be useful for insurance companies and companies.

Safety is important factor, and lowest quality in it can never be accepted, but it should be always improved, as long as it is practically possible. Improved work safety training through whole EU would be important for more advanced safety know-how and to save money and lives through decreased amount of accidents.
