The Post-Scarcity World of 2050 -2070
According The Futurist Journal (Jan – Feb 2010) the Post –Scarcity Word will be happening 2050 – 2075 but until that the word will be ruled by the period of scarcities.
The view of futures, which was produced by an international team, is outlining quite similar scenario paths compared with scenario from Älykop –project (see Smart Forest @ Future Home –Scenario). For example according The Futurist Journal (Jan – Feb 2010) the Post –Scarcity Word will be happening 2050 – 2075 but until that the word will be ruled by the period of scarcities.
After 35 years of relative abundance
“The world between 2010 and 2050 is likely to be characterized by a scarcity of credit, a scarcity of food, a scarcity of energy, a scarcity of water and a scarcity of mineral resources.”
The next ten years 2010 – 2020 will be dominated by aftereffects of the credit crunch. At the same time there will be the great growth of human population. According to UN estimates, the global population will be 8 billion by 2025 and 9 billion by 2025.
“Around the world , people will want to share in material prosperity – a TV, a car, and better life for their children.”
One of the phenomena of scarcity era is “Peak just about everything” – a production/ demand peak before diminishing. That will be a case in oil production and many essential minerals like Antimony, Tantalum or Zinc. The price mechanism will stimulate new technologies to address resource efficiency.
The Post-Scarcity company?
Increasing scarcity is a great challenge to the traditional capitals business models and concepts – only the world without scarcity can be a greater challenge. The main point of reasoning is that the price mechanism (the backbone of economic system) at the present state of commercial world is based on scarcity and if scarcity can be removed from the pattern the backbone of economy will be crunched.
