Enhance drainage system in those areas that could heavily be affected by flood in the future

Even some of the developed countries do not have the kind of drainage system that could stand the test of time...

Different countries around the world should be prepared for the worst flood situation in the future. There are weather scientists that can predict the area that could heavily be affected by flood in the future. All the stakeholders in the communities that could be affected by flood in the worst weather scenario should start planning and putting measures in place to advert this flooding.

Many under-developed and developing countries do not have drainage system in many of their communities. In some cases, there are very poor drainage systems. Even some of the developed countries do not have the kind of drainage system that could stand the test of time. What about if the worst flood scenario occurs? What would be the hope of the people living in this kind of communities?
So, for this reason, there is need for enhance drainage systems to be constructed in various communities. This kind of system could be very expensive to construct, but the cost of the disaster that will occur from flooding could even be many times more than the cost to put such drainage system in place.

Drainage system is one way of flood protection. However I think it is not always applicable. In Czech Republic, for example, floods appeared in places where never expected possible. Further more, it has been quite common that places affected by floods were re-build and destroyed again only several years after. I believe that mapping possible flood areas and creating models could help in urban planning of built-up areas and reduce the possibility of negative effect. Clever planning could be less expensive and more protective when it comes to material as well as human lives.
